At the Foot of the Pyrenees and close to the sea   -

Our french rental holiday home lies at the foot of the Pyrenees and yet close to the Mediterranean, in the Catalonian town of Sorède. It is an undiscovered pearl in the ancient province of Roussillon, corresponding to the present-day southern French département Pyrénées-Orientales(66). Few other regions in Europe can tempt you with such a variety of sceneries and contrasts. Here people speak the Catalan language, as in the adjacent part of Spain. Roussillon is the most sunny region in France!

The spacious and well-equipped home is very suitable for 2 families. It is situated close to the center of Sorède, a small town of 3.500 inhabitants. Here you'll find cafés, restaurants, shops with everyday necessities, weekly market, bank, postoffice and tourist-office. The nearest larger towns are Argelès-sur-Mer, Céret and the administrative province-capital Perpignan with 130.000 inhabitants. The picturesque seaside town of Collioure, is located only 10 min.s away.

The countryside of Sorède is diversified: The green wooded Pyrenees lie to the south and west, and to the north lies the lowland, bounded on the horizon by the Montagne Noire range in the Aude département. Few kilometers to the east is the Mediterranean with extensive, white, sandy beaches. Small cozy Catalan villages are surrounded by olive and peach groves, wineries and vineyards, with the 2.800 m high Canigou mountain as an impressing backdrop.

Sorède is situated in the heart of the wine-district Côtes du Roussillon, famous for its fine full-bodied red, tasty white and dessert wines.
